discovery

little pieces
strewn about
like confetti on the floor
without the glitter or sparle
of celebration

my memories
like so much of my life
haphazard
with no order or care
remnants of the chaos
that drives me

pieces of a fearful puzzle
best left unattended
yet need drives me on
to place each malignant piece
to find purpose and reason
where there can be none

and
should I be asked
why I don’t simply
sweep them beneath the rug
or into the bin to be tossed away
I simply smile
trying to mask the pain
of finding meaning
from the shards
of my life

  1. Your words describe the many phases of many of our lives. The pain so vividly felt. Thank you for putting words to many thoughts that go through my head.
